WICreator & WINetwork released on Codeplex!

I'm pleased to announce you that the Work Item Creator and WINetwork are both available in codeplex: http://www.codeplex.com/wicreator.

It's a start, the setup process is not as easy I'd want to, but I can assure you it worth going through it!
I'm waiting your feedback by email or directly in the discussion forum in Codeplex.

If people are willing to help the application evolving, let me know!

Concerning the Work Item Creator application, I've added interesting features:

  • Siblings ordering in the hierarchy.
  • Tree View filtering by Title content and by the following fields of a Work Item: State, Created By, Assigned To, Work Item Type. The possible values are dynamically built, I'm kinda proud of it! :)
  • The saving process was optimized.

2 - I have downloaded the source code and now trying to open the project. It tries to connect to a tfs. Where can I contact to access the tfs? (Comment this)

3 - Azaz,
You have to follow the instructions in the "WINetwork & WICreator - About and setup" document.

Once you've installed the Web Service, you'll have to edit the NetworkModels.xml file to specify the URL of your TFS server (among other settings). (Comment this)

4 - Hi Loïc,
Your tool is very important that can improve the productivity when working with the TFS.
But there is one thing that is missing, the integration with the VS. The main power of the TFS is the strong integration with all the developments tools (VS, source safe, Bugs manager ant more). Your tool will be perfect if you will add this feature.
Good luck,
Avi. (Comment this)

5 - Avi Wortzel,

Thanks for the compliment! :)

Concerning the integration as a VS Package in Visual Studio. That was one of the possibilities I talked about few posts ago.
I know this will ease the day to day use of the application, but on the other side I really like the Click-once feature and the fact the application is server-side. It can be updated really easily and there's no need to deploy new versions across the user network.

I may consider it in future releases, but before I'd really like to implement few other things. (Comment this)

6 - Great tool Loïc! We've been looking to relate work items in order to fit with our Agile(XP) methodology. Have you done any custom reports for this feature? Thanks for putting this together.

7 - Thanks for the compliments! :)
Well, I’m not a SQL Reporting services expert at all, not even a rookie, so it’s a hard accomplishment for me.
But I really wanted to have some reports that include the hierarchy feature.
If somebody could contribute, I would greatly appreciate it!

8 - Hi Loic - WICreator is a really great tool - Thanks :-)
Microsoft won't have hierarchies in TFS until Rosario - so why wait until 2010 ?
We would like to help you develop WICreator further (Comment this)
